Gabrielle Gomez, B.A. Comics, School of Visual Arts (2016)
EDIT: A huge mistake has been made regarding the first image posted here, of the drawing of the woman seeming to pop out of the wall. I recently found out that it is not a drawing but actually a Photoshopped image created by an artist and photographer named James Anthony.
I first found the image on this Tumblr post about Kelvin Okafor, and it was included with other pieces of his work. Unaware that it was incorrectly credited to Kelvin, I posted the image of the woman in this and another answer: Gabrielle Gomez's answer to What is the most realistic piece of art (not digital) you have ever seen?. That’s when Barry Goldberg commented on my answer, saying that he was suspicious of the actual source of the image since Kelvin Okafor mostly makes black and white portraits. Barry did a reverse image search of the woman but Google brought up no reliable results.
After reading his comment, I decided to do some digging and did a reverse image search on Google and Bing myself, but all that came up was this answer and reblogs on Tumblr and Twitter. Google also listed the image as “Kelvin Okafor 2017 realistic drawings”, which made it even more confusing, since I couldn’t find any sign of the art on Kelvin Okafor’s social media.
Looking back at the image more closely, I noticed that there was a small line of text at the bottom: “@iamjamesanthony”. I looked it up and found this artist/photographer’s Instagram page: James Anthony (@iamjamesanthony) • Instagram photos and videos. There, he has posted images sharing a similar style as well as the same image of the woman I was previously (and wrongly) told was a drawing by Kelvin Okafor.
This was a terrible mistake made on my part and hope that this update will clear everything up for all the upvoters and commenters on both of my answers. I also went back to that Tumblr post and went through the comments to find that a few people have pointed out the mistake too.
I would like to apologize to all of you for this misinformation as well as to James Anthony, and properly credit him for the image rightfully belonging to him. I would also like to thank Barry Goldberg for his comment pointing out his suspicions, since that was what led me to look deeper into this (which I should have done before).
I am considering deleting this answer but will keep it up for now, since both of the artists’ work are still very amazing and worth a look.
Original Answer:
You would think that the people shown below are cleverly edited to “look” like drawings…
…but they are drawings. The artist’s name is Kelvin Okafor and he makes the most realistic portraits I’ve ever seen. The one at the top is like an optical illusion. I know it’s a drawing, but I keep seeing it as a real person. I can’t even imagine how long it takes him to draw these portraits. Just mind-boggling.
